1997 Volvo 850 Base

Description

I’ve owned this 1997 Volvo 850 for over 16 years and it’s still going strong! Inspected and on the road. Base model, not turbo. Automatic transmission.
– Heated seats
– Power windows
– Power adjustable drivers seat
– Great heater
– Goes down the road very well
– Rear seat folds down to open up trunk area
– AM/FM CD/Cassette unit but CD works intermittently
– Have Haynes shop manual and maintenance records
Odometer reads 215,630 miles but I’d add approximately 40k to that, as the odometer was broken for about 3 years. I replaced the odometer gear and it now works. Mileage will increase as I drive it daily. Replaced all dashboard bulbs at same time as odometer gear. Replaced engine in December 2015 and that engine has about 151,000 on it.
If I don’t sell it and I keep it, here’s what I’d address on it:
– About due for serpentine belt replacement. That should be done soon.  A new one was installed as part of the engine replacement in December 2015 at 177,599 miles and the belt has about 38,031 miles on it. Although the mileage recommendation for belt replacement is 70K, it’s been 6 1/2 years so it’s cheap insurance to stay ahead of it.
– A/C not working
– Uses some power steering fluid
– Power antenna doesn’t retract (have replacement unit)
– Clearcoat peeling on roof & trunk as in photos
– Drivers seat could use a cover or replacement.
Good mechanical condition and fair cosmetically due to peeling clearcoat and drivers seat condition. Was a CT salvage title prior to my ownership as it had been in an accident, but it is now a regular reconstructed MA title. Over the past 16 years, I could never tell it had been in an accident.
Also for sale locally, so may end auction early if I get a strong offer locally.
