Handcrafted 13″ Pentacle Altar Wreath Woven Wickery
Made of Vine and Twig Withies and Vintage Folk Charms
Wildcrafted 13″ handmade woven pentacle made using locally harvested natural fibers and other reclaimed 1970’s materials that were hand woven and adorned with small handmade charms. Originally made
in 1986 with more recent additions of small handmade fascinators such as an acorn with a bell, a large seashell, and white leather macramé knotwork adorned with a handmade lampwork glass
bead for use when hanging the piece on a wall or other vertical surface. For use as an altar wreath for sabbat celebrations or during other rituals. Can also be used for protection if by hanging
the pentacle over any point of egress or liminal threshold such as a door, window, or fireplace.
Condition: Very Good. Handmade. Vintage originally made in 1986 with more recent additions. Some components used to create the pentacle were older from the 1970’s. Due to age, the fabric faux flowers have begun to deteriorate but all other components are in
excellent condition. The pentacle is handmade and is firm yet still little flexible just like any other type of woven wickery. The shape is not a perfectly round circle and slightly oval.
If desired, a spray bottle with water can be used to lightly dampen and then gently re-shape the pentacle as needed with an approximate 3″ range of flexibility possible.
Wildcrafted from locally harvested withes from West Central Florida that consisted of of outer bark stripped from young Bluejack Oak Tree (
Quercus incana
) branches and vines that included: Air
Potato Vine or Wild Yam Vine (
Dioscorea bulbifera
), Flame Vine (Pyrostegia venusta), Trumpet Vine (
Campsis radicans
), Virginia Creeper Vine (
Parthenocissus quinquefoli
), and Wild Grape
Vine (
Vitis rotundifolia
). The seashell was found at a beach near Biscayne National Park in Southeast Florida. The crafted acorn and bell was made of natural and artificial components
from the Florida panhandle. All ribbons, cloth strips, and faux flowers are salvaged 1970’s vintage. A real green silk ribbon was used to attach the seashell to the wreath. No glue
was used. All components of the pentacle are woven and knotted together to form the wreath.
